How We Test and Rank Web Hosting Providers
Every hosting provider featured on this site has been independently evaluated by our editorial team. We do not accept payment for rankings, placements, or reviews. Our methodology is designed to produce results that reflect real-world performance for real users.
Our Testing Process
Each hosting provider is tested over a minimum of 90 days using identical WordPress installations. We deploy the same theme, the same plugins, and the same content on every host, then measure performance under consistent conditions.
What We Measure
Speed (LCP and TTFB)
We measure Largest Contentful Paint and Time to First Byte from three geographic locations: Frankfurt, New York, and Singapore. Tests run every six hours via WebPageTest and are averaged across the full monitoring period.
Uptime
Every test site is monitored every 60 seconds via UptimeRobot for the full 90-day period. We record every downtime incident, its duration, and the host response time.
Support Quality
We submit 15 standardised support tickets to each host covering common WordPress issues, billing questions, and technical server queries. We measure first response time, accuracy, and whether the issue was resolved in a single interaction.
Value
We record both introductory and renewal pricing, compare what is included at each price point, and assess the total cost of ownership over a two-year period.
Scoring
Each host receives a score out of 10 across five categories. The overall score is a weighted average: Speed 30%, Uptime 25%, Support 20%, Value 15%, WordPress Features 10%.
